Author Guidelines
IJOEH will consider the publication of any original manuscript that deals with the broad field of occupational and environmental medicine. Manuscripts will be reviewed for possible publication with the understanding that they have not been published, simultaneously submitted, or already accepted for publication elsewhere. This does not preclude consideration of a complete report that follows publication of preliminary findings elsewhere, usually in the proceedings of a conference. Copies of any possible duplicative published material must be submitted with the manuscript that is being sent for consideration.
IJOEH is committed to objectivity in collection and interpretation of research data. Authors must comply with our Conflict of Interest Disclosure Policy.
There is no maximum length for submissions, although authors may be asked to reduce manuscript length as part of the peer or editorial review process. Abstracts must be no longer than 150 words.
Tables. Tables should be included in the main submission file.
Figures. All figures must be included in the main manuscript, accompanied an appropriate legend or caption. Figures must ALSO be uploaded individually as supplementary files, in .tif, .jpg, .png, or similar format, or a vector graphic format. Figures should be at least 300 DPI; no figures below 150 DPI will be accepted.
Abbreviations. The first time an uncommon abbreviation appears, it should be preceded by the full name for which it stands.
Permission. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to republish photographs, drawings, tables, and other previously published material in their articles.
References. References should be typed double-spaced in the order of their occurrence in the manuscript. All references must be cited in the text, tables, or figure legends. Please follow NLM Style for citations. "Citing Medicine: The NLM Style Guide for Authors, Editors, and Publishers" is available online at: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/bookres.fcgi/citmed/frontpage.html
Please note punctuation and format for journal (#1) and book (#2) references:
1. Appleton RJ. Traumatic injuries of the cervical spine. J Bone Joint Surg. 2001;22:386–391.
2. Smith AB. The cervical spine. In: Hochschuler S, editor. The Spine in Sports. 2nd ed. Philadelphia: Hanley & Belfus; 2001. p. 18–32.
Other sources. Materials taken from other sources must be accompanied by a written statement from both the author and the publisher giving permission to the publisher of IJOEH for reproduction. If clearances are required by the author’s institution, statements concerning such clearances should be provided in the manuscript. Obtain and submit written permission from authors to cite unpublished data or papers still in press.
